Following assignments are currently in hand:
1. Assignment on behalf of Banks and Financial Institutions, started in February 2001 with respect to the biggest private sector financial restructuring and rehabilitation of Pakland Cement and Saadi Cement amounting to Pak Rupees nine billion (US $ 150 million).
The process of financial restructuring has started with the presentation of a rescue plan with innovative proposals like, transformation of variety of debts into one instrument, shielding the auction of one of the cement plant, to avert imminent scary scenario that would have been faced by the some of financial institutions excessively exposed to both these industrial units; thereafter rehabilitation that included completion of Pakland’s production line-2 and both the production lines of Saadi Cement and regular monitoring of cash flow management of both these units on behalf of around 50 Banks and Financial Institutions.
The financial, operational and rehabilitation affairs of both these cement plants was handled through an independent office that had engaged professionals covering broadly technical, financial, legal and marketing disciplines to work as team of debt-work out specialists (under the Scheme of Arrangement sanctioned by the High Court).
After the transfer of ownership and Management of both these units to a leading business group namely Dewan Mushtaq Group, in mid 2004, the advisory and monitoring role started reshaping to provide relatively free hand to the new management which is one of the factors of starting CSR.
2. Arrangement of exemptions from Prudential Regulations of State Bank of Pakistan for a known business group.
3. Complete consultancy services to M/s Shaheen Air International.
4. Automotive vendors' development program for Dewan Motors.
5. Revamping of cane procurement system for sugar industry.
6. Assessment of managerial staff up to GM level for a large industrial unit which has about 2500 employees.
7. Review of existing labour laws to formulate recommendations to enhance productivity, efficiency and better industrial relations while remaining with in the framework of various Geneva Conventions ratified by GOP.
8. Initial work on the concept paper for developing Credit Information Bureau and Credit rating Agency for non-listed entities including SME's has also been started for one of our clients.
9. Germany based Professional Association representing the foreign trading interests of German retail trade (AVE) have developed AVE Sector “Model Social Responsibility Supplier’s Manual” to be adhered by all exporters who export goods to Germany. AVE in collaboration with German Technical Corporation (GTZ) organizing series of “Round Table” meetings at various cities in Pakistan. CSR being one of member of the four members’ steering committee is assisting AVE / GTZ on promotion of Social Responsibility / Social Standards through series of Round Tables for the benefit of Stakeholders. CSR’s office serves as the secretariat of the AVE / GTZ initiative for co-ordination and follow-up role in Pakistan.
